The Regional Conference of the National Academy of Psychology (NAOP) is designed with a clear, people-first purpose to take psychology to places where it is still underrepresented and where departments are evolving. By bringing a high‐quality scholarly presentations/discussion closer to emerging departments, NAOP lowers barriers to participation, amplifies local talent, and accelerates capacity-building across India’s diverse regions. In each academic year, NAOP plans two Regional Conferences, scheduled so they don’t sit too close to the Annual Convention, ensuring every event gets the attention, energy, and audience it deserves, and that the interval between Annual and Regional meetings remains meaningfully spaced.
NAOP’s Regional Conferences are meant to showcase cutting-edge scholarship alongside workshops on pedagogy, research methods, and community impact; spotlighting local needs; and building bridges between researchers, practitioners, and policymakers. The result is a welcoming, energizing forum where first-time presenters stand alongside seasoned scholars, where departments in growth phase can network with established centers, and where impactful collaborations often begin.
Institutions in developing or underrepresented regions are warmly encouraged to host. NAOP members from such areas may apply to organize a Regional Conference at their institution. Please address requests to the Chair, Conference Committee Prof. Tushar Singh (tusharsinghalld@gmail.com) with a copy to the Secretary General, NAOP. NAOP will work closely with selected hosts on scheduling (to ensure appropriate spacing from the Annual Convention), program design, and outreach so that every Regional Conference feels both locally rooted and nationally significant.
If you're ready to put your region on the psychology map, NAOP's Regional Conference is your launchpad bringing visibility, mentorship, and momentum to the communities that will shape the discipline's future.
